For those that wear Elysium, the sun shineth in their strength.
Virgil, a Roman poet described Elysium as being illuminated day and night by the Sun and stars. In Greek mythology, Elysium is the paradise where Gods and nobles spend eternity. We will breathe life into this mythology as we supply the modern day Gods and nobles of Elysium.
We have combined this goal with our sustainability model. We have partnered with an environmental project concerned with global reforestation efforts. We will breathe life into the Elysian fields.
Our logo was created to embody the concept of Elysium. The paradise reserved for the heroes immortalised by the Gods. Our brand personifies elegance, style and this paradisiacal place.
We started with the champions helmet.
This is very much a homage to the Corinthian helmet which was exceptionally beautiful and ahead of its time. The Corinthians lived on the Isthmus of Corinth, the narrow stretch of land that joins the Peloponnese to the mainland of Greece, roughly halfway between Athens and Sparta.
The Corinthians used this helmet design for several centuries, sometimes with a crest and sometimes without. They were generally made of bronze and were designed to stop swords, arrows and spears.
Elysium is a Greek concept and maintaining that influence within our brand was important. Greek art has shaped different parts of the world throughout history and is still revered highly to this day. One of the key components of Greek art is the Spiera. It is one of the oldest symbols used since Palaeolithic times in Greece.
It is a sign and symbol of the ubiquitous Ancient Hellenism. We find it all over Greece decorating architecture on public and private buildings and monuments. It symbolises the creation of life and vitality. Originally, it symbolised the continuity of the rotating sky and the Sun.
It has been engraved into rocks and prehistoric megalithic monuments. Painted on small and large works of art from the time of Ancient Thera, but also on almost every single vase from the Minoan period in Crete. It is engraved on sanctuaries and the golden vessels of Mycenae. Now it is part of Elysium Sunglasses wrapped around our Champions helmet.
Our logo illustrates the renowned Greek power and courage through our champions helmet and we also illustrated Greek art and craftsmanship through the added Spiera. However, our name needed to embody Greek influence on literature as well as myth and legend...
And so with our stylised Greek lettering Elysium Sunglasses was born.
